Here is the procedure for an SY/3.
1) Fit bowsprit to front deck staple with screw eye and secure with pin through
front mounting bracket.
2) Connect boom to mast with boom wire connector (Or screw eye if fitted) to mast wire
loop and fit mast to mast mount
with pin.
3) Main sail, connect bottom front corner to boom wire with wire through punched
sail hole. Tie top of sail with cord then through mast top hole, loop around
mast, then down to mast central hole, through hole, loop around and tie to top of jib sail.
Then, with mast in vertical position, run a cord (Shroud) with bowsie fitted (If
neccessary) from the port
deck staple up and through the gap between the rigging cord and mast above the mast central hole and
loop then tie around mast with the knot to the rear, then run cord down to the
starboard deck staple, fit another bowsie (If necessary) here to aid centralising the mast
position. Some of the smaller or older yachts did not have bowsies fitted and
had sliding knots instead. There may be a slight variation on how the shrouds
were tied to the central mast area but as long as they don't slip any further
down, they will be okay.
4) Tie off front of jib sail to front hole in the bowsprit checking the mast is
still vertical. Tie a cord to the jib sail rear bottom corner through the mast
front wire to the starboard deck staple using another bowsie.
5) Finally, tie the main sail rear bottom corner and thread through the hole at
rear of boom, tie around boom and run through rear deck staple, then port deck
staple and up mid way, using a bowsie to tie to mast cord.

This procedure can also be used on an SY/2 or SY/1, by ignoring stage 1 and in stage 4, the foresail is connected by a wire hook to a staple in the bow decking instead of being tied to a bowsprit.
